Thermal Polyurathane (TPU) is a soft flexible rubber like filament. It has great moisture resistance and high layer bonding strength and is suitable for your flexible projects. It also has a shore rating of 85A.

As with most softer filaments print speed will need to be reduced. A good starting point is around 40mm/s, but this could vary depending on the machine. You will also need a feeder system that doesn’t allow the filament to buckle and get caught around the extruder gear.

Tips & Tricks for printing with TPE

The printing temperature guideline for printing with our TPE filament is approximately 200°C to 230°C. As each desktop 3D printer has its own unique characteristics, you might need to tweak your temperature settings a bit to obtain the best results. To obtain optimal results for your prints you need to take into account variables like your 3D printer’s nozzle diameter, your printing speed settings, and layer height.

Using a heated bed is optional with TPE, but if you have one we suggest a temperature of around 60C.

It is also recommended to unwind the filament before printing, to allow it to feed off the roll without sticking.

Rafts are not recommended due to the difficulty of their removal and support will need to be cut away.
